Lieutenant General Andrew E. Busch

Former Director, Defense Logistics Agency

Lieutenant General (Retired) Andrew E. Busch was the Director of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), where he provided strategic leadership for the Defense Department’s only combat-support agency for worldwide logistics. While at the DLA, Gen. Busch directed nine supply chains supporting the U.S. military as well as federal, state, local, and international partners. In addition, he oversaw the DoD’s process for reverse logistics and the National Defense Stockpile, an international network of 25 distribution centers that house strategic and critical materials for use during times of national emergency.

A former Vice Commander of the Air Force Materiel Command, Gen. Busch is a logistician with a core background in fighter aircraft maintenance. His early career focused on operational assignments in fighter aircraft maintenance. As an aircraft maintenance officer, Gen. Busch served in a variety of sortie production roles and commanded three maintenance squadrons and a maintenance wing. In later assignments, he specialized in supply chain management in addition to aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul. Gen. Busch is Level III certified in life cycle logistics and Level II certified in program management and is a designated Joint Qualified Officer.

Gen. Busch is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he earned his commission and a Bachelor of Science degree in 1979. He holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Golden Gate University; a Master of Science in logistics management from the Air Force Institute of Technology; and a Master of Science in national resource strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.
